Nasi timbel is hot rice wrapped in banana leaf so it picks up a green aroma, usually plated with fried chicken, tofu, sambal, and vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 600 g hot steamed rice
  • Banana leaves as needed
  • A pinch of salt (optional, mixed into rice)
  • Sides: fried chicken, tofu/tempeh, sambal, fresh vegetables

Directions

  1. Wilt banana leaves over low heat.
  2. Place hot rice on the leaf and roll tightly.
  3. Steam 10 minutes optionally for more aroma, or serve at once.
  4. Unwrap at the table and arrange the sides.
